Where is the Microsoft 365 backup data stored?
You can select a storage region during the initial set up. Available storage locations include the United States (Iowa), EU (the Netherlands), UK, Canada and Australia.
To comply with GDPR and other data protection regulations, you can also use Afi data residency policies to store your backup in different storage regions, based on the AAD groups, Microsoft multi-geo data location, or custom resource groups.
How is Afi different from Veeam Microsoft 365 backup / legacy vendors?
Veeam M365 backup is one of the most popular solutions, but it doesn't provide a complete cloud service - it offers software that needs to be installed, maintained and managed. We believe that a cloud-to-cloud backup is way more practical option for Microsoft 365 data protection.
Afi is based on a new distributed microservices architecture, and we provide 2-3x faster backup performance compared to legacy alternatives, especially on a large scale (e.g. SharePoint and Exchnge mailboxes with millions of items).

Do you backup SharePoint Online (SPO)?
Yes, we provide full backup and recovery of all SPO data, including native data types not fully supported by other vendors – e.g. SharePoint modern pages, legacy pages and lists.
There is no additional licensing fee to backup SharePoint sites if you backup your M365 user accounts. If you only want to backup SharePoint, without protecting M365 users, then please get in touch with us for a custom quote.
