External IDs

Some of the Afi API calls return or allow to fetch objects by External IDs. External IDs are identifiers used by the external system like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace to uniquely identify its resources (users, drives, sites etc.). It is recommended to use those External IDs to correctly map Afi objects to external system ones (or vice versa) as object names or email identifiers may not be stable.

Multi-Geo support

Multi-Geo Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace tenants map to several per-region Afi tenants with the same External ID, but different Afi IDs.

Object synchronization

Please note that changes to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 domain objects (users, drives, sites, etc.) are not reflected in Afi in real-time and are synchronized during periodic resource discovery procedures so mapping of Afi objects to external systems may lag and be incomplete until another re-synchronization is performed.
