What's supported¶
Afi SaaS backup for Microsoft 365 provides comprehensive support for the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Groups & Teams, Planner, Copilot, Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), and Power Platform workloads.
Exchange Online¶
Afi offers Exchange Online (email, contacts, calendars, tasks) backup, archiving, and recovery for user, shared, resource (room), and group mailboxes. As a part of Exchange Online backup, Afi also supports Online Archive and Recoverable Items data backup (configurable as a part of backup SLA policy settings).
Afi provides rich backup browse and full-text search capabilities as well as granular restore and export options for Exchange Online data fully preserving messages metadata and label structure. Supported export formats include:
- PST for email, contacts, calendar, and tasks data;
- MBOX and EML for email data;
- VCF for contacts data;
- ICS for calendar data.
OneDrive and OneNote¶
Afi provides OneDrive and OneNote backup support with granular restore and export options, supporting user-to-user and user-to-site recovery. OneDrive data recovery preserves original file/folder structure as well as file creation and modification dates.
SharePoint¶
Afi offers comprehensive SharePoint site data and metadata backup, including Document/Page libraries, Lists, and sub-sites. SharePoint data recovery supports cross-site and same site restore preserving original site structure, custom columns, views, content types, and permissions.
Teams & Groups¶
Afi provides complete Team channels and chat backup, including private and shared channels, file attachments, static and animated images linked to chat and channels messages. Afi users can export Team data as HTML or recover channels to a new Team preserving original message metadata (sender, creation date), message structure and formatting (adaptive cards), and message attachments.
Planner¶
Afi supports backup for Planner in Teams, including plans, buckets, tasks, and task comments, as well as the corresponding metadata (task status, priority, assignees, start and due dates, labels, checklist, notes, and file attachments). Afi users can export Planner data as HTML or recover individual tasks and plans.
Copilot¶
Afi offers backup support for user Copilot chats, capturing both user prompts and Copilot agent replies. It includes direct chats with Copilot as well as interactions with Copilot in scope of other Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, etc.). Afi users can export Copilot data as HTML.
Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)¶
Afi provides comprehensive backup and recovery support for key Entra ID objects, including all related metadata fields, as well as ownership and membership settings. The Entra ID backup includes the following object types:
- Users
- Groups
- Roles and role assignments
- Conditional access policies
- Sign-in and audit logs
- Enterprise applications
- Application registrations
- Devices
- Intune device compliance policies
- Intune device configuration profiles
- BitLocker recovery keys for Intune-enrolled devices
- Administrative units
Notice
If you installed the Afi application before May 22, 2025, please re-grant the application's access to your Microsoft 365 tenant as described here. This will allow the Afi service to access all Entra ID objects supported by Afi and ensure the completeness of the Entra ID backup.
Power Platform¶
Afi delivers comprehensive backup for Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps workloads, as well as Power Platform Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and tenant settings.
Power BI backup captures workspace structure and includes reports, dashboards, and dataflows, with report data available for export in the following Microsoft-native formats:
- PBIX (Power BI eXchange) and PBIR (Power BI enhanced report) for non-paginated reports;
- RDL (Report Definition Language) for paginated reports.
Power Apps and Power Automate flows can be exported as Microsoft-native ZIP archives and imported back to Power Platform.
