Afi Backup for Kubernetes

Afi SaaS backup provides comprehensive protection for Kubernetes configuration and persistent volume data both in cloud-managed and self-hosted Kubernetes clusters. Backup data is stored outside of your cluster, in the Afi-managed Google Cloud Platform object storage, allowing for easy backup data access and recovery even if the cluster is no longer available.

Afi Kubernetes backup in major public clouds (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform) leverages cloud APIs for efficient snapshot management, cloud KMS integration, as well as fast and lightweight incremental backups, which rely on cloud-native CBT (Changed Block Tracking) technology (for Azure and AWS).

Afi adopts multi-tenant organizational and access model tailored to enterprise use-cases, complete with comprehensive audit for user and system activities as well as extensive monitoring capabilities. This allows you to manage all your Kubernetes clusters under a single Afi account and follow the principle of least privilege, granting limited access on a per-cluster basis. To automate backup management, Afi provides Kubernetes-native API which can be integrated in your DevOps pipelines.

Afi supports fine-grained recovery for Kubernetes configuration and persistent volume data inside the same cluster or across different clusters, suited both for disaster recovery and application mobility use-cases.

To ensure deep visibility into backup data and convenient data access in case of a disaster event, Afi offers comprehensive data browse and search capabilities, including:

  • Kubernetes manifest preview;
  • Full-text search across manifest contents;
  • Ability to browse filesystem and export selected files for persistent volume backed up by Afi (for ext4 filesystems).
