Afi Platform Update - Jul 2025¶
This update brings many new features and significant improvements to the Afi platform, extending support for Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Kubernetes backup.

Virtual machines¶
Fallback to crash-consistent backup when VM agent is not available¶
In certain cases, if VM agent is stopped, outdated, or is in an inconsistent state, it is not possible to create an application-consistent restore point for the virtual machine. When it happens, Afi now falls back to creating a crash-consistent backup snapshot and finishes the backup with the corresponding warning status. Please follow the troubleshooting steps in this article to check the agent state.
Databases¶
Content preview restriction for database tables¶
You can now restrict access to database table data for service administrators or access group operators on the Service → Settings → Access groups tab by disabling the Preview content access permission. Here is an example of table browse view when content preview is restricted:

Backup improvements for To Do tasks¶
In this update Afi improves To Do tasks (Exchange tasks) properties coverage, including task checklists.
Intune administrative templates and settings catalog policies backup¶
This update expands Afi Intune configuration profiles backup for Entra ID to include settings catalog policies that cover different parts of device management, including, but not limited to, accessing resources (VPN, Wi-Fi), security (antivirus, firewall, certificates), and Group Policy Objects (ADMX administrative templates). For each profile, Afi also synchronizes and shows its assignments.

Past-due invoice alert notifications¶
In this update Afi adds an alert about unpaid, past-due invoices issued for the account. Alert notifications for past-due invoices are sent to the licensing notifications recipients configured on the Configuration → Notifications tab.
